Ohio Cannabis Expo

Ohio Cannabis Visitor Guide

Reviewed October 21, 2026 against the official sources linked below. Laws and rules may change before the 2027 events. This guide provides general information; individual legal or medical questions belong with an Ohio attorney or qualified clinician.

Expo rules apply to every attendee

Ohio Cannabis Expo is 21+ with valid photo identification. No cannabis consumption, cannabis product sales, weapons or illegal activity are permitted at our events. Attendance does not authorize conduct prohibited by Ohio law or venue rules.

Senate Bill 56 and current rules

The Ohio General Assembly lists March 20, 2026 as the principal effective date of SB 56. Check the current code and Division of Cannabis Control guidance rather than relying on older Issue 2 summaries. Read current official Ohio cannabis statutes.

Legal purchasing and visiting Ohio

Adults must be at least 21 for non-medical cannabis. Use licensed Ohio dispensaries and check their identification and purchasing requirements. Do not bring cannabis across state lines, including when traveling between states with legal programs. Official Ohio cannabis statutes (Chapter 3796).

Medical patients, veterans and seniors

Ohio retains its medical program. An active registration and clinician recommendation are distinct requirements. DCC explains that qualifying medical purchases are exempt from the adult-use excise tax; dispensary discounts and physician charges vary. Veterans and seniors should ask the dispensary or clinician about eligibility and available assistance, without assuming any price or approval. Event admission assistance is separate from medical eligibility: check the selected Expo event for verification requirements and free general-admission categories. VIP is excluded from free GA offers.

Home cultivation

Section 3796.04 allows eligible adults to cultivate at their primary residence, subject to six plants per adult and twelve per residence. Plants must be secured against access by people under 21 and hidden from normal public view. Lease restrictions and specified residential settings can prohibit cultivation. Homegrown cannabis cannot be sold for profit; growing for another person and hydrocarbon extraction are not authorized. Read the complete home cultivation law.

Public places, private gatherings and travel

Adult-use and homegrown cannabis consumption in public places is prohibited. A ticket, private invitation or event venue does not itself create a lawful consumption area. Do not drive while impaired. Chapter 3796 does not authorize cannabis on federal land in Ohio. Hosts and organizers must check consumption restrictions, venue rules and applicable licensing requirements before planning any cannabis-related activity. Read section 3796.24.

Visitor safety and accommodation

Plan transportation before the event, keep products away from children and pets, and follow staff and emergency-service instructions. For Expo-specific assistance, use our accessibility request form and Safety First visitor guidelines.
